The genius of Dark Horse Pilates, in my opinion, is it’s creator, Master Instructor Janice Dulak, a student of Romana Kryzanowska for decades. Not content to just teach the exercises, Janice has endeavored to really understand the genius behind the Method as Joseph Pilates taught it to Romana and Romana taught it to her.
What is a Dark Horse? Well, according to the dictionary, it is “a candidate about whom little is known but who unexpectedly wins or succeeds.” Haven’t we all felt like a dark horse at some point in our lives? Unknown and/or unseen? There really are no overnight successes. It takes hard work, self reflection, perspective, community and joy in the journey. This is what I have found with Janice and the Dark Horse Pilates community.
Sometimes you have to step back and take time to gain a deeper understanding of what you’re doing in order to progress forward. To me, that is really what it’s all about. I want to succeed and this is what I am learning from Janice and Dark Horse Pilates. I’ve gained a new perspective, a deeper understanding of how the body moves, how to do Pilates, and how to be a more effective teacher of Pilates.
As a teacher of Pilates or one who is aspiring to become a teacher of Pilates what more could you ask for?
